DRAFT 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program Project List

The Genesee Transportation Council (GTC) is making the DRAFT 2011-2014 Transportation Improvement Program (TIP) Project List available for a 30-day public review from Thursday, February 25, 2010 through Friday, March 26, 2010.

GTC is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. USDOT requires every metropolitan area with a population over 50,000 to have a designated MPO to qualify for receipt of federal highway and transit funds.

The DRAFT 2011-2014 TIP Project List for the GTC TIP Area, including the Rochester Transportation Management Area (TMA), presents the projects recommended to receive federal transportation funding from October 1, 2010 through September 30, 2014 (Federal Fiscal Years 2011 through 2014) and is attached for your information and review.

The GTC TIP Area is comprised of the following seven counties: Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Ontario, Orleans, Wayne, and Wyoming. The Rochester TMA includes all of Monroe County, plus the adjacent developed areas of Ontario, Livingston, and Wayne Counties.

The United States Department of Transportation requires that the metropolitan transportation planning process include the cooperative development of a TIP – a staged, multi-year program of projects. The TIP identifies the timing and funding of all highway, bridge, transit, intelligent transportation system, bicycle, pedestrian, and transportation-related air quality projects scheduled for implementation in the region using federal transportation funds.

The 2011-2014 TIP will include transportation projects funded with approximately $510 million of federal transportation funding, supplemented by other state and local sources of funds. This region’s TIP is developed cooperatively by GTC and the New York State Department of Transportation (NYSDOT).

This document presents 1.) projects recommended to receive federal transportation funding by phase and Federal Fiscal Year and 2.) projects considered but not recommended to receive federal funding in this TIP.
