The Long Range Transportation Plan for the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region 2050 (LRTP 2050) establishes the long-term transportation planning priorities and investment strategies for the nine-county Genesee-Finger Lakes Region. The plan identifies ongoing challenges, concerns, and priorities within the region, and recommends policies and priorities that inform decision-making for the Genesee Transportation Council. Federal, State, and Local governments will use LRTP 2050 to guide decision-making regarding the transportation system’s future.
LRTP 2050 seeks to advance long-standing regional transportation needs, such as improving safety, preserving existing assets, supporting alternative modes of transportation, while emphasizing access to transportation services.
LRTP 2050 includes 85 recommendations organized into five categories:
- Health and Safety
- Access and Mobility
- System Management and Maintenance
- Innovation and Resilience
- Economic Development
These recommendations were developed based on public engagement received during the development process of LRTP 2050. This public engagement, along with coordination with our partners in the region, acts as the action steps in LRTP 2050. They focus on increasing safety, access, system longevity, and supporting the long-term financial and physical safety of the transportation network.
The LRTP 2050 was adopted by the GTC Board at its June 11, 2026 meeting and is available for download below in PDF:
