GTC is seeking public feedback on 78 specific recommendations in five categories as part of developing the Long Range Transportation Plan (LRTP) 2045. To access a list of the draft recommendations and submit comments online, please visit: www.publicinput.com/LongRangeTransportationPlan.
The Long Range Transportation Plan for the Genesee-Finger Lakes Region 2040 (LRTP 2040) provides a strategic framework for transportation policy, planning, and investment decision making. It assesses existing and projected transportation system capabilities, needs, and objectives; and includes recommendations to meet those objectives through 2040.
When GTC began developing LRTP 2040, we committed to conducting the most extensive public participation and outreach that the organization had ever done for a LRTP. With that in mind, two rounds of customer engagement were conducted:
The first, held from August 2014 through March 2015, gathered significant community input as GTC staff attended farmers markets and regional malls; developed an interactive WikiMap; sought feedback through Twitter; published three online surveys; and met with several interested stakeholder groups. Two public meetings, organized as open houses with multiple stations for attendees to talk with staff one-on-one, were also held.
The second round, held from February through March 2016, sought additional public input as well as specific feedback on the LRTP 2040 Public Review Document. A series of open-house-style public meetings were also held across the Region.
The LRTP 2040 was adopted by the GTC Board at its June 9, 2016 meeting and is available for download below in PDF:
